LEAGUES
WHO IS LACROSSE AMERICA?
Lacrosse America is one of the reasons why lacrosse is so popular in the Chicagoland area. Lacrosse America's staff of current and former players and coaches has been running instructional and competitive programs since 1991. When you register with Lacrosse America, you get on-field experience, administrative support, and the areas best selection of equipment and apparel.
WHO WILL THE COACHES BE?
Experienced and knowledgeable lacrosse fanatics including local Varsity and JV high school coaches, Lacrosse America coaches, and even the occasional PRO! Your program will also have a director who is personally committed to your lacrosse needs. Please contact your director any time with questions, concerns or comments.
VERNON HILLS DIRECTOR: Gary Hoppe gary.h@lacrosseamerica.com, 847-412-5529 x-112
GLENVIEW DIRECTOR: Brian Cummings brian.c@lacrosseamerica.com, 847-412-5529 x-116
WHAT WILL MY CHILD LEARN?
As this is an EXPERIENCED league, we will focus mainly on team skills and concepts. Riding, clearing, man-up, man-down, transition, situational drills, goalie play, and every other facet of the game will be covered so that participants leave the league as a more knowledgeable and talented player than when they entered.
HOW ARE TEAMS MADE?
Youth teams are grouped by town. High school teams are grouped by school. If any one team becomes too large, it may be split into two teams to insure adequate playing time for all registrants. If a particular town or school does not have enough players to form its own team, it will be rounded out with at large players from other towns/schools. You may submit your own FULL team (at least 15 players) by contacting your program director.
WHEN WILL SCHEDULES BE AVAILABLE?
Registration closes Sunday, September 5th. Schedules will be posted and emailed on Thursday, September 8th. Games will be each Sunday, September 12 – October 17th. You can view your potential time window on the fall league registration page.
EQUIPMENT:
All players must have their equipment prior to the first meeting.
All participants must have the following gear:
· Helmet
· Shoulder pads
· Elbow pads
· Gloves
· Mouth guard
· Athletic cup
· Stick
· Water bottle
Note: Hockey helmet and pads may be used in place of lacrosse equipment. Soccer or football cleats should be worn (no metal spikes).
You can visit our stores to rent or buy equipment. You get fitted with your own gear at the beginning of the session and return it at the end. PLEASE HAVE ALL EQUIPMENT FOR THE FIRST DAY OF THE PROGRAMS, EQUIPMENT WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE AT THE FIELD.
WHAT ABOUT BAD WEATHER AND CANCELLATIONS?
1. If bad weather is approaching we will monitor weather radar and announce any cancellations 1 hour before your scheduled start time.
2. If weather is good before practice or a game, but radar indicates that foul weather may move in during practice, we will have our coaches make the call at the field. In many cases we can get in a good half-practice/game before bad weather moves in, or wait out a quick rain shower and still get a lot done. In this case, do not stray too far from the field in case the weather takes a turn for the worst and players need to be picked up.
HOW WILL WE BE NOTIFIED OF CANCELLATIONS?
Lacrosse America has both a weather hotline and a weather update page on its website. Please check the one that is most convenient in the case of foul weather. Both will be updated 1 hour before your scheduled start time.
